ASPD has a different branch that is not as much talked about, which is caused by trauma and has repressed feelings and lack empathy because of that, which is what I have actually. That is also the version people usually use for making serial killers which bothers me a lot. I struggle to feel anything, but it doesn't mean my body doesn't feel it, I get impulsive, so it takes a lot of self control to not do "bad things". Like, the worst thing I ever did was punch my pillow and call my dad stupid. He got mad at me lmfao

I still remember this to today. I got diagnosed with CD recently, and I hate how ASPD is portrayed.

In general I feel like representations of mental illness should be informed by those who suffer from said illnesses. I have OCD (different from OCPD, they often get confused with each other) and I get so exhausted seeing the representations of us as being just neat and organized and quirky when in reality it's a life changing condition that leads many sufferers to suicide. When I depict my OCD in art I draw it as a monster or a dark puppet master, not something cute. Yes, there are aspects of my personality as a neurodiverse person that ARE good, but the obsessions and compulsions are, by definition, unwanted and upsetting. I suspect most people who suffer from these painful conditions feel the same way. If I were to depict a disorder that I don't have I would ask someone with first hand experience what it feels like to THEM.

hello! im obv pretty late to this video, but i still feel like i should share my opinion. i have bipolar, OCD, and possibly AVPD (im gonna be tested bc im not the type to self diagnose, i just relate to the symptoms so i thought id bring it up.) anyway. this shit is CRIPPLING sometimes, and i HATE having my disorders pushed as "teehee quirky" characters. i can have breakdowns over my art not being good, i'll straight up cry if i touch a dirty dish, and im writing this at almost 1 in the morning bc im in one of my manic episodes and cant fucking sleep. im also like the most messy person, so even if this is repetitive, OCD does not mean neat freak. my compulsions focus on the most stupid shit sometimes- i rarely care about my room/living space. anyway sorry for the rant, thanks for bringing this gross behavior to light :3

This makes me really want someone to write/create something (a webcomic would be particularly suited for this, I think) with a similar concept to this just…handled better, hopefully. Maybe it’s set in some kind of mental health ward or a friend group former by them being in group therapy or something. The characters all have the different disorders but are also people outside of that (literally what would’ve been so hard to give them names) and they grow as a group and as individuals and get through life together because no matter what issues they have they also have eachother.

I’m not defending the creator, but I feel like your video should be more educational and things instead of also hating on the art. You can have your opinions on the art but it doesn’t have to be in the video.

2:55 so, I have a very specific and niche problem: My brain automatically reads SPD like it was referring to the German political party Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands, or SPD for short. The same problem exists for most names for personality disorders too, though to a lesser extent. Oh wait, NPD is a political party too.

God seeing this made me want to peel off my skin 😭. I have mental disorders, and so do some of my relatives, and seeing people just narrow down serious issues to just “adhd excitement” “ocd chores” and “bipolar mood swings” makes me want to sit those people down and just YAP about how dumb and insulting they are. like please, doing research isn’t just looking at the blue highlighted things from google. Researching is using sites with real therapists and doctors that know what the hell they’re doing. Using little Timmy’s slideshow as your source is just so *aggravating* that if makes me wanna scream. These randos don’t know the struggle of mental disorders, let alone getting physically ill if you skip one too many days.

Why is it even a thing? Drawing disorders in a human form? For what reason? I don't even care for color pallettes or the fact that the BPD is an e-girl (of course it is. We all are sexy alternative girls who threaten you suicide but are crazy in bed 💯). It's just why? You may say ITS IMPORTANT TO SHARE THE AWARENESS, and cute drawings are visual aids. But why would you feel the need to spread the awareness while you're not a professional? You don't have a firm grasp on the topic? I don't care if you have a disorder yourself. It's not an excuse. P.S. stigmatizing and stereotypization of people with BPD kills. We struggle with self-worth either way, and it's even encouraged (in some literature) that the therapist doesn't say blatantly 'you borderline' (that feels like stigma, the patient feels like their fears that they're broken are confirmed etc.), but to put it in a way of 'you match some characteristics of the disordered personality, but we can work on your personality in this and that way and you can rebuilt it for yourself'. In this way, the patient is encouraged to work on themselves and assured they're not broken beyond repair in any way. Don't play a therapist or psychiatrist if you ain't one.
